"TEMPLE OF MEDINET HABU" TOUR.
The funerary temple of Rameses III (20th dynasty), is a New Kingdom structure located in the city of Medinet Habu, west of Luxor, Egypt known today as the temple of Medinet Habu (the city of Habu) or Dyamet in the antiquity, is a good example of New Kingdom architecture. He took as a model the funerary temple of Rameses II, the Rameseus, and enlarged it. It is the one that is best preserved in the Thebes area and still maintains a lot of polychrome. The temple is located on a hill, south of the Ay and Horemheb temples. This place, considered one of the original mounds in which the creation took place (it was said that the members of the Ogdoad were buried there), had already been previously chosen by Hatshepsut and Tuthmosis III to build a small enclosure to worship the god Amun , in two of its primordial forms, the serpents Kemataef and his son Irto. It was one of the stops during the celebration of the Bella Fiesta del Valle. The temple occupies an area of about 7,000 m2 and was designed by the architects Amenemose and Pairy, beginning its construction from the fifth year of the reign of Rameses III. The structure is similar to that of the neighboring temple of Rameses II, the Rameseus, whom Rameses III greatly admired, to the point of having dedicated a cult chapel in his temple, close to the treasure rooms and the hypostyle hall. The Sanctuary is made up of several enclosures enclosed in walls, until reaching the sanctuary of Amun. This temple is one of the most beautiful funerary temples in all of Egypt for its colors, which remain as if they had been applied a short time ago. Also its bas-reliefs that decorate the outer walls of the temple are to detail.
