Stopped by as a walk-in, and the haircut was pleasant, the wash was thorough (no water in the ears - major peeve of mine), and the scalp massage was amazing - seriously, made my toes tingle and was just a grand treat. That being said, I probably won't be back, as I don't really care for the way that my layers were done - less a trim and more a total revamp.
The service really was top-notch, so do give it a try, it's more a stylistic difference that will likely have me going elsewhere, or at least going back with a reference photo to explain my layering preferences.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Aug 18, 2014
I'm pretty much a chicken when it comes to pain. In fact, I waited until I was 21 before I got my ears pierced. lol. I had been thinking about getting permanent make up done on my eyes for a while and was just too afraid to get it done. I had researched this procedure and saw a lot of mixed reviews. The scariest reviews included getting infections in the eyes. Anyways, I finally decided to go for it and found Hair Sensations through Groupon. The price was very reasonable and it was nearby my place.
The first time I went to get it done, Kim did a pretty great job. She eased my concerns and talked throughout the entire time so I wouldn't be thinking about the pain. It hurt a little but it wasn't as bad as I thought. It feels like needles scratching the upper lid of your eye. The ointment she places to numb the eye lid definitely helps. It turned out great. The line was very straight and color turned out great. I went back for a second time to get a touch up so the color would be darker and line thicker and it again turned out pretty nicely.
I was so impressed by the job that she did that now my husband and I get our haircuts here. She charges a reasonable price and takes her time to cut your hair. She is a perfectionist and this is a pretty good quality to have as a makeup artist/hair cutter. The only minor drawback is that she has a lot of business on the weekends so you might have to wait 30-40 minutes before getting your haircut. Sometimes she might tae a walk in before your hair appointment, which causes the wait time to be longer. But... her services are worth the wait!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Vega S.Livermore, CA201209154Nov 10, 2014
The only thing sensational about Hair Sensations is the owners racist attitude. I went in for a simple hair trim and this what the conversation went like:
"have you been here before?
--"no"
"what country are you from?"
--"India"
"there were some indian people here last week. maybe thats why I thought it was you"
--"Ah, I see"
"They all look the same to me"
--"(internally) WHAAAT?"
I hate racists. But I also love my hair. So I let her do her thing and left without a word.
The haircut was mediocre at best and I paid $33 for a simple trim. I have been to the local Great Clips and received the exact same haircut minus the bigotry for about $15.
It is not worthwhile to go here for multiple reasons and I will strongly discourage friends and neighbours from doing so.Helpful 13Thanks 1Love this 8Oh no 1 - Clair De L.Seattle, WA12513Jun 19, 2015
I should've spent the appropriate amount of money instead of going cheap with Groupon for permanent makeup. She messed up the eyeliner by making it uneven in thickness and length. Worst part is that she drew harsh, thick black lines(supposed hair strokes) instead of soft dark brown strokes on my eye brows. They look horrible... along with little dots(pools of ink) on the ends of the lines(she lingered too long with the machine).
After consulting a professional cosmetic tattoo artist, I was told that my technician used wrong sized needle for my eyebrows. It's like drawing little sticks, not brow hair... go do research and compare the photos of hair stroke brows from other professionals.
I am in the process of lasering them off and spending 5 times as much as what I originally paid for the service. The lady had a nice personality but was definitely not focused(she got up to answer call or customer several times), had inferior/poor technique, and didn't know how to numb properly.
To be fair, I have gotten her service about a year ago, so perhaps the quality of her technique may have been improved.Helpful 2Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 1 - Amber A.Seattle, WA567258Sep 21, 2014
I came in close to closing to inquire about getting my hair "fixed" I decided to change from my 4 year run of chocolate cherry hair to blonde, and it turned blonde and light brown and dark brown... but with an orange tint... she said it might take a couple session to go blonde, I thought. And decided I wanted a reverse ombre, she spent 5 hours. Yes 5 on my hair. Well after close. She has been doing hair for 28 years, and it shows. She even gives you a little massage with your hair wash. She is the owner and operator with no help. So she's pretty kick ass.

Kimberly is wonderful! I showed her the haircut I was looking for -- a drastic change, I went from long to a bob -- she glanced at it and immediately got the idea. We chatted about it a bit, and she made it happen! The way she cut it gave it so much volume; it looks healthier than ever -- I've gotten a ton of compliments! Pricing is reasonable, service friendly -- Definitely recommend.

She said my eyelids were different (thin blood vessels), so did one eye by hand & the other by machine. All in all it took about 3 hours. A year later I can tell now the job was uneven, though my I don't know if anyone notices. Still happy I had it done.

My best friend and I recently purchased the Groupon for permanent makeup. The punch line: we are both absolutely thrilled with our outcomes.
Long story: it turned out that my friend's skin-type is very compatible with permanent makeup. She was in and out in less than an hour. It looked great. Me, on the other hand...not so much.
I need to start by saying that my friend had taken the day off work and was traveling to Seattle from Oregon for this procedure. We had been looking forward to it for a couple months. At the last minute Kimberly had some unexpected guests from out of town and she contacted my friend to see if she could reschedule and my friend said no. This was no problem for Kimberly. She was kind and gracious and provided both of us excellent customer service.
Kimberly started my procedure applying some very effective numbing cream. After waiting in her comfy chair for 20 minutes for it to take effect, she started. I purchased two areas, both upper and lower eyeliner. At first is was absolutely painless--it felt like someone was tugging on my eyelashes. Although it was a little unnerving to have a sharp object do close to my eyes, I was feeling like this was going to be a breeze as my friend's had been. It quickly became apparent that my skin wasn't responding to the application. Kimberly tried different tools and methods. As the numbing cream wore off it became pretty uncomfortable, so she re-applied the cream and waited the required 20 minutes (meanwhile her guests were waiting). She patiently worked for three hours. The thing about Groupon is that the merchant doesn't make all that much money on the deal. I really appreciated that she took so much time to make sure that mine was done right. The color and the shape, the thickness of the line is just what I had hoped for. I highly recommend this procedure. Totally worth it. I think I just might have my eyebrows done next!Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Stefanie F.Redmond, WA17413068Oct 30, 2013
I Too found this place based on Groupon-then researched the website and then checked yelp reviews.
I came here 10/29/2013 and met Kim, the owner and the woman who runs the whole show there. Hope one day she can find a good employee to help her out with everything since she is going to become busy with all those groupons.
I bought a coupon for permanent eye liner. However I had also recently gotten my brows and lips done from another place (which was super expensive). So Kim saw the work done on me and wanted to help fix it right away. So we kind of just consulted on that right away. She also showed me tons of brow photos and I have per a photo of Megan Fox for a reference photo.
She helped me with deciding what liner thickness I wanted and where to have the liner end on my lid. Then we decided together after spending lots of time trying to figure out how to fix my shape and blotchyness of my brows. She showed me her penciled in idea and I loved it. So she completed that for me to in the same appointment and I looked a ton better! Thank goodness I came here! She is so reasonably priced. You can't go wrong with her expertise and price.
She was very attentive about making sure I was as numb as possible.
She told me stories about how some people get botox and make the numbing med not work sometimes. And she also told me story about how some people are so nervous to get it done at first and sometime fall asleep in chair once she starts.
It's good to be in someone's hands you trust enough to sleep!
She finishes with a head and neck massage which is greatly appreciated after that work.
So now I have Megan Fox brows and I am a very happy customer.
I'll go back later for my lip fixing.
She also does hair and highlights for a reasonable price so I'll try that out in the future too.
p.s. My eyelids did swell a bit the next day. No pain just a little puffy lids.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - EJ H.Seattle, WA011Feb 4, 2013
I came here to get my haircut on a Saturday afternoon as a walk-in and was surprised at how nicely decorated and pleasant the salon is. (It is, after all, located in a strip mall next to a teriyaki restaurant.) Kimberley, the owner, is the only one who works there currently so I felt for her. She is a super sweet, funny asian lady but bold and confident as a stylist. So many times, I've been to more expensive salons (aveda, gary manuel, etc) expecting expert advice but with stylists that did nothing more exciting than trim my hair. Kimberley suggested a style, which I went with... and I came out with a fun, edgy haircut that I love! And it was only $30! I will definitely be back.
