{HISTORY}

If you picked up a bird identification field guide anytime in the last 100 years, chances are you would recognize the name Roger Tory Peterson. As our modern-day equivalent to the artistic talents of John James Audubon, Roger Tory Peterson (1908-1996) was responsible for creating interest and enthusiasm in the birdwatching community with his detailed avian art and influential nature identification guides. As a conservationist, he promoted ways to protect bird species, encourage habitat sustainability, and improve wildlands for the protection of bird species around the country throughout his life, making him not only an expert in the field but also the most trusted resource.

In the early 1980s, the French Porcelain pottery Georges Boyer collaborated with Roger Tory Peterson to create a series of beautiful French Limoges porcelain plates featuring a variety of Roger's songbird portraits. This one features a beautiful pair of barn swallows Perched on delicate blades of wild grass, these two are beautifully captured in animated detail with magnificent clarity and a rustic color palette.

Containing shades of mint, sage, lemongrass, watermelon, black midnight blue, rust, almond, grey, chestnut, and copper this plate is a true work of art. Meant for display and not for food, it comes ready to hang.

A lovely statement piece for the nature enthusiast, bird portrait plates look beautiful when displayed on their own or tucked in between floral botanical prints, collage style, on a wall. As all beautiful art has the possibility to do so, this Barn Swallow plate contains such a beautifully dramatic array of colors, it can influence and inspire an entire interior design aesthetic filled with similar variations of color and texture.
