Pingu Throw, colloquially known by its series' name Yeti Sports, is a neat little Flash game about hitting penguins with a bat to make them fly that ended up going viral and spawned a number of sequels.

Has nothing to do with that Pingu, in case you were wondering.

Revisional Differences

Second Edition

In 2005, an upgraded version subtitled Second Edition was released. It featured updated graphics, as well as the implementation of the "air-movement" mechanic that lets you rotate the penguin clockwise or counterclockwise while in air.

Instead of featuring the yeti from the series name sitting on the snow besides multiple penguins and leaning on the Yeti Sports logo, the Second Edition's title screen features a penguin flying after being hit by the yeti's bat. The mention to Root Media's old name, Edelweiss Medienwerkst, was also removed, and so was the "Mouse Click Control" instruction. The Play button on the snow was replaced with a little green checkbox to the bottom-right.

The mountain that the penguin falls from was changed to be much more elaborate. The yeti now looks up at it waiting with the bat, instead of resting it on the ground and smiling at the camera. "TOP:" was removed from the top score sign, the value on which was centered, and the sign denoting the first milestone was moved closer to the start; the top score and milestones signs are now held by a seal and penguins respectively. Clouds were also added, and the Reinhold + Yeti sign was changed to look lighter.

All the environment changes aside, a border around the game screen was added featuring, at the top: the player's name, the Yeti Sports logo, and the top score again, but this time with "TOP:" before it. The small developer credits at the top of the original version were moved to the bottom of the border, still showing the Edelweiss Medienwerkst name, although their website's URL was removed.

On the sign that appears to show your score when the penguin hits the ground, two buttons were added to replay your latest feat and submit your score to the Yeti Sports website respectively. The score itself was recolored red and moved above the OK button, which was made more circular and also recolored red.

A window that appears when the player gets a new top score was also added. It also asks if you want to submit it to the Yeti Sports website.

eBay Promotion

A modification of Second Edition with promotions for eBay was made available as a download on the Yeti Sports website.

A splash screen saying "sponsored by eBay" was added before the title screen, which remains unchanged.

The Highscore button was removed from the score sign, and the Replay button replaced it; eBay's logo was put in its original place. The OK text and score were also italicized.
