About Crassula Ovata 'Gollum'
The perennial succulent Crassula Ovata 'Gollum' grows in the Mediterranean climate. It is a shrubby plant with conspicuous, rounded stems and a yellowish-brown or grayish-brown epidermis. It has alternate leaves, growing in dense clusters at the tips of the stems or branches, fleshy leaf cylinders, 4cm to 5cm long, obliquely truncated at the tips, usually elliptical in cross-section, and bright green in color with a yellowish tinge at the ends. Its leaves are somewhat peculiar and pleasantly colored when they bloom in winter.
How to care for Crassula Ovata 'Gollum'
Sun/Location: The succulent should be planted in a well-lit environment, as do all succulents. Shady conditions will cause the plant to loosen up and affect its beauty. In normal conditions, you can place it in a sunny spot to receive all-day sunlight, but in the hot summer months, you should avoid direct sunlight, or you may find that the leaves are sunburned and even melted.
Soil/Pot: A rotten leaf or grass charcoal soil is suitable for it, as these soils are loose, breathable, and lightly acidic. Choosing a pot that has good air permeability and a diameter 2x3 inches larger than the plant diameter will promote plant growth.
Watering: Although Crassula Ovata 'Gollum' is drought-tolerant, keeping the soil moist by watering more frequently during peak growth ensures the plant develops well. It is also essential to spray appropriately in the summer to effectively cool down and simultaneously increase humidity and reduce the effects of transpiration. Watering should be reduced in winter since the plant grows slowly.
