Not one, but two – Gooding & Company is offering another Lamborghini Miura at their Pebble Beach Auction, and the second car is definitely more special. This spectacular 1972 Lamborghini Miura P400 SV is truly a one-of-one; finished in Bleu Tahiti (Tahitian Blue) paint with gold accents over white leather upholstery; it is the only Miura known to have been supplied new in this fantastic color scheme.
Between 1971 and 1973, Lamborghini produced only 150 examples of the P400 SV, the ultimate development of the Miura. Among these, Gooding & Company is offering chassis number 5066 for auction at the prestigious Pebble Beach Auction, and it is truly a one-of-a-kind masterpiece.
This late-production European version of the Miura SV comes with several exceptional features that make it a truly special find for collectors. Notably, it is one of the rare 150 SVs built, accounting for less than one-fifth of the total Miura production. The SV, a high-performance marvel of its era, has now become a highly sought-after collector’s item, representing an undisputed icon of automotive design.
What sets this particular Miura SV apart is its vibrant and unique color scheme – Bleu Tahiti (Tahitian Blue) paint with gold accents, complemented by white leather upholstery. Factory records indicate that it is the only Miura ever to be delivered in this striking combination, making it an incredibly rare gem among automotive enthusiasts.
Equipped with a split-sump lubrication system and optional Borletti air-conditioning, this Miura P400 SV was ahead of its time with its advanced features. The air-conditioning option, priced at $555, was considered one of the most expensive add-ons for the SV, and it is believed that only 30 examples were equipped with this luxury.
According to historical documentation, Lamborghini delivered chassis 5066 to the official concessionaire Righetti in Vicenza, making it one of the approximately 49 SVs to be originally delivered in Italy. The first owner of this Miura P400 SV, Domenico Schiavo of Padua, held the car dear to his heart as a tribute to his late brother, who had always dreamed of owning a Miura. Sig. Schiavo registered the car with the license plate “PD 319260” and cherished it for an impressive 38 years, driving it nearly 80,000 kilometers during his ownership.
In 2010, this stunning Miura P400 SV found a new home in a private European collection, where it underwent a thorough and meticulous restoration process between 2011 and 2013. The restoration was overseen by Cremonini Carrozzeria of Modena, a renowned specialist in Miura restorations. The SV was brought back to its original glory, adhering to the highest standards while preserving its rare factory options and exceptional color scheme.
After changing hands in 2018, the current owner has maintained the car immaculately, using it sparingly, most recently in the beautiful landscapes of the South of France. Today, chassis 5066 remains in excellent condition, with every detail meticulously maintained, including correct-type hose clamps and period-correct Pirelli CN12 Cinturato tires. Of particular significance, the car retains its matching-numbers engine (no. 30728) and comes accompanied by its original Padua license plates.
With an unmatched provenance and a top-notch restoration by a leading Miura specialist, this exceptional Miura P400 SV is an unparalleled opportunity for collectors and enthusiasts alike. It has never been offered for sale in the United States and has yet to grace the international concours scene, making it a hidden treasure waiting to be discovered by a discerning collector.
The Pebble Beach Auction, hosted by Gooding & Company, presents a rare chance to acquire one of the finest and most sought-after Lamborghinis ever produced. With its outstanding provenance, factory specification, and exceptional restoration, chassis 5066 undoubtedly stands as a Lamborghini Miura fit for the most passionate and discerning collectors worldwide.
