🚰 The water of Milano: good, affordable, sustainable and safe
New campaign by Comune di Milano
Torre Velasca found home in the city centre of Milano since the late fifties of the last century.
The unusual aesthetics were always debated (not only) by the citizens of Milano.
The British newspaper Daily Telegraph, for example, in 2012 listed Torre Velasca among the ugliest buildings in the world. However there are also different opinions that recognize its uniqueness and its representativity of the “mood” of Milano and Italy at that time.
Like it or not, Torre Velasca is an icon of Milano. 106 meters tall it was one of the earliest towers in the skyline of Milano.
It is an example of so-called “Brutalist Architecture” and this is interesting because this architectural movement is very unusual in Italy.
A deep renovation is in progress since 2020. The re-opening is expected in 2024.
In addition to private homes and offices, the re-opening is supposed to also deliver public areas like business areas, a penthouse hotel, luxury restaurants with a view, wellness areas and more.
Recently the tower is also communicating with the city thanks to a projection system that is writing messages on the tower through the light, for example during Christmas time.
