Shirley Y. (Miller) Schmidt

            Shirley Y. Schmidt, 80, of Curtice, Ohio passed away on Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at ProMedica Bay Park Hospital.  She was born on September 19, 1935 in Dayton, Ohio to Theodore and Arlene (Bradley) Miller. Shirley worked as a supervisor for Verd-A-Ray Corp. until retiring in 1979. She was a long time member of the Cooley Canal Yacht Club. Shirley was an avid Euchre player and enjoyed crossword puzzles. She also loved family game nights. Shirley loved being grandma more than anything and will be dearly missed.

            She is survived by her children, Robert (Dedra) Ruckman and Cheryl (Marvin) Mallery; step-children, Joe (Pam) Schmidt; Laura (Jeff) Buehrer and Michelle VanderMeer; grandchildren, Valerie (Jon), Brian, Tara (James), Eric (Robyn), Andrew and Casey; step-grandchildren, Justin, Thomas, Jessica, Danny and Nicole; great-grandchildren; Brandon, Elizabeth, Brittany, Nicole, Kyle, Parker and Avery and brothers, Theodore (Marilyn) Miller, David Miller, Darrell (Karen) Miller and James (Sandra) Miller.  Shirley was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Thomas Schmidt.

            Visitation will be held at Freck Funeral Chapel 1155 S. Wynn Rd., Oregon, Ohio, on Friday August 5, 2016 from 5-8 p.m. where a Celebration of Life Service will be held at 7:30 p.m.  Burial will be private. In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
