Shirley (Schmidt) Newberry, 79, of West Plains, Missouri and formally of Blue Grass, Iowa went to meet the Lord on April 16th, 2024 after she lost her battle with cancer. Visitation will be Thursday, April 25, 2024 from 2-4 p.m. at the Runge Mortuary and Crematory, Davenport, Iowa.
She was born to Eleanor (Junkman, then Johnson) and Raymond Schmidt on July 20th, 1944. She married Dan Smith with whom they had three children, Jeff, Barry, and Jason. After their divorce, Shirley met the love of her life, Jim Newberry, whom she married in May of 2000. Jim and Shirley spent many joyful years camping, canoeing, swimming, ATV riding, playing cards and games, gardening, and spending time with family and friends.
Shirley is survived by her loving husband of 24 years Jim; sons, Jeff of Oregon, Barry (Lisa) of Blue Grass, Jason (Anne) of Solon; siblings, Sandy (Randy) of Bettendorf, Terry (Linda) of Bettendorf, all of Iowa, and Sally (Doug) of Knoxville, Tennessee.
She is preceded in death by her parents (Eleanor and Raymond) and brother (Richard).
