This large perennial forms a rosette of fleshy, broad, ascending to spreading leaves and thick flower stalks with terminal clusters of white flowers followed by large, fleshy seeds that resemble bulbs more than anything. Widespread from the western Indian Ocean through tropical Asia to the southwestern Pacific and Australia, Crinum asiaticum is widely grown elsewhere in the tropics and in warm temperate regions in USDA Zones 10 and above as an ornamental.
